What we build

Six things we do, and do completely.

Demolition, framing, plumbing, electrical, finish carpentry and cleanup are coordinated by us. You are not left chasing five subcontractors.

Kitchen remodeling

New layouts, cabinetry, counters and lighting — plus the plumbing, venting and electrical behind the walls that make them work.

Bathroom remodeling

Full gut renovations with waterproofing done properly under the tile, plus curbless showers and grab-bar blocking when you want to stay in the house long term.

Home additions

Bump-outs, dormers, second stories and in-law suites. Foundation, framing, roof tie-ins, permits and inspections are all part of the job.

Whole-home renovation

Older Rhode Island houses brought up to current code and comfort without stripping out the details that make them worth keeping.

Commercial build-outs

Offices, retail and restaurant spaces, phased around your hours so you can keep operating while we work.

Design and planning

We plan the space with you before anyone swings a hammer — and we say so when a drawing looks good but will not function.

How we work

Five stages, and you always know which one you are in.

Most renovation stress comes from not knowing what happens next. Here is the whole sequence before you commit to anything.

  1. 01

    Walkthrough

We meet at the property, listen to what you want, and look at what is actually there: framing, wiring, plumbing and moisture.

  2. 02

    Plan and written estimate

You get a plan and a line-item price in writing, with allowances spelled out instead of hiding the real cost.

  3. 03

    Permits and schedule

We pull the permits, order long-lead materials, and give you a start date, a finish date and the order of work.

  4. 04

    Build

A lead carpenter on site every day, the space swept before we leave, and a weekly update so you are never guessing.

  5. 05

    Walkthrough and warranty

We close out the punch list before the final invoice, hand over the inspection sign-offs, and stand behind the work.

About

A finished project should work, not just photograph well.

We want you to be genuinely happy with the finished space — and for it to function exactly the way you pictured it.

Golden Key Contractor is a general contractor based in Providence. We take on residential remodels, additions and commercial build-outs across Rhode Island, and we handle the design conversation as seriously as the construction.

Years on job sites teach you how spaces really get used: where the light lands, where two people collide in a kitchen, which wall is carrying the floor above it. We bring that to the planning table instead of discovering it during demolition.

Some builders will frame whatever the drawing says, even when the result will not function. We would rather raise the problem early, propose a fix, and build something that lasts.

Questions

Before you call

Is the estimate free?

Yes. The walkthrough and the written estimate cost nothing. Detailed design drawings for a large addition may carry a design fee, which we tell you about before any work starts.

Are you licensed and insured?

We are a registered contractor in Rhode Island and carry general liability and workers' compensation coverage. We will send certificates before work begins — ask any contractor for the same.

Do you pull the permits?

Yes. We file with the city or town, schedule inspections, and hand you the signed-off paperwork at the end. It matters when you sell the house.

How long does a typical project take?

A bathroom usually runs three to five weeks on site, a kitchen six to ten, and an addition three to five months depending on permits and weather. You get a real date range in your estimate, not a guess.

Can we live in the house during the work?

Usually yes. We dust-seal the work area, protect floors and walkways, and keep water and power on overnight wherever the scope allows.

Do you take commercial work?

Yes — offices, retail and restaurant spaces. We can phase the work after hours or in sections so you stay open.
